About Us

Our history

The Sediba Global Partnership Office was established by the Community Chest of the Western Cape in South Africa, to mobilise resources as part of its global expansion strategy. Our approach embraces the notion of global citizenship.

Sediba Global Partnership, is registered as a supporting non-profit organisation (NPO) to the Community Chest and is registered in the United States of America.

Our approach

Sediba place emphasis on initiatives aligned to the Community Chest in South Africa, in the following areas:

  • Education
  • Health
  • Income Generation
  • Community Development

 

Community Chest funds approximately 400 organisations and community projects within these 4 key deliverables annually. Funding only provided to organisations who are legally compliant and all beneficiaries undergo the Community Chest Due Diligence and vetting  process.

 

Education

Community Chest regards education as a lifelong experience during which people acquire skills, experience, competence and confidence. Therefore, we support organisations, networks and partners who focus on the development of education as well as access to quality education. Therefore, components of the Community Chest Education Strategy include:

 

  1. Advocating for quality Early Childhood Development, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education
  2. Creating an enabling environment by influencing policy and legislation
  3. Contributing to leadership and capacity development in education

 

Health

Community Chest supports organisations, partners and networks that implement health and health related initiatives, including physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Components of our health strategy include:

 

  1. Advancing access to health, especially for vulnerable groups such as women and children
  2. Advocating for affordable quality health systems on a national governmental level
  3. Promoting leadership in the execution of health programmes

 

Income Generation

Community Chest facilitates local prosperity and social cohesion by supporting innovative programmes and initiatives that increase economic independence in vulnerable communities. Components of our income generation strategy include:

 

  1. Advancing opportunities for traditional and alternative income-generating ventures
  2. Advocating for policies that facilitate entrepreneurship
  3. Supporting organisations that focus on education, skills development and leadership

 

Community Development

Community Chest supports organisations, active citizens and professionals in building resilient and responsive communities where access to health, education and income generation opportunities are advanced. Components of our community development strategy include:

 

  1. Prevention, early intervention, statutory and re-integration services as determined in the integrated social development model
  2. Advocating for policies that advance community development
  3. Inspiring leadership in building a responsible, active and caring citizenry
